Saiga-0 is definitely a difference maker here. Impressive they managed to plan this out against one of the toughest monsters this series. Hell, it's the flagship one promoted on one of the posters.

But yeah, credit should be given for Sunraku here for fighting a tough battle.

I really would love to know what this dude Sunraku would do if it weren't for him unlocking Invetoria, because this guy is straight up SPAMMING that shit as his dodge lmao. And already like five minutes into the fight, you can tell exactly WHY this beast is among the Seven Colossi. I mean, from the OP skills and unbeatable strategist, this beast is like all of Wezaemon's insta-kill skills COMBINED.

But yeah, here's that animation I've been waiting on for the whole season. Although most of the animation went to Sunraku running and throwing some attacks here and there, because YET AGAIN this dude went back to the Invetoria. Though, at least he didn't use it to just dodge an attack, and instead changed gears and brought his mecha bird out. Truly the most meta thing to come out of this show... using a VR set in the game to pilot a character... while using a VR in real life to pilot a character... xD

Loving the fact that their giving emotions to Lycagon with the smirks and such. Just goes to show that Sunraku ain't the only one enjoying this fight. Poor Rei though, Lycagon hit her with that mean ass backhand, and she's down for the count it seems.

Thankfully help's on the way though, with Emul and girl that discovered Rabituza on the way.

New OP & ED next week:

This fight felt so short, yet it lasted for an entire episode.

Hoping to see some epic world ending ultimate coming up, even with how bleak its looking.

No word are needed to describe how awesome this fight is!
But I guess I am going to say: THIS FIGHT IS AWESOME!!!
(And this is only the beginning!)

That bird mecha is basically red Skarmory and Psyger 0 looks cool in black, golden armour which looks like Maliketh's armour. Been one hype fight and soon we'll get to see Psyger 0's special attack
Akane Akitsu's coming so more hype.

holy fireee!! animation fanservice, that was great.

Suzaku would make a good flying mount, that can solve the problem of travelling long distances lol.

Rei-shi's Equipment mechanic is so cool, is this the first time we've known that? I cant remember.

Akane is finally here! I thought so from the OP and it seems like she would be helping the Lycagon fight (is she a potential love rival? gomen Rei-shi)... also she seems to know Sunraku from another game??

At the very end, instead of attacking the hind leg like she had done 4 TIMES before,
@Marx48 My guess is that "landing" is a missinterpretation and that she needs to deal damage and not count as "blocked".
At the start of the episode she hits the body and considers it tough, while Sunraku points out later that the head seems to have less dmg resistance than the rest of the body.

Hitting with a powerful attack is cool and all, but I doubt and probably she does too (since it seems you can't see the Colossi health bars) that that ultimate can instakill Lycagon, so better make as much damage while stacking the skill hits to advance the fight than go to chip damage and maybe miss the victory by a hair.
They came unprepared, they are low on supplies, so they shouldn't waste time in things that won't progress the goal.

There ya go,theres that heat from C2C cooking.Kinda wonder if its necessary for Rei-shi to switch between attacks each time for the ultimate.Think it'd be easier if she just do 5 for one then the other.

Looks like Akane knows who Sunraku is,i'll bet its the one person he fought with on the fighting game BERP.

Sunraku and Rei going full force against lycagon. This shadow wolf hadn't even been going all out before just now. Hiding some of her skills so that they wouldn't know everything she could use against them. Her main body being able to move through the shadows too makes sense but still comes as a surprise since lycagon hadn't done that until now. Rei having an ultimate move that could really do some damage is awesome, it has weird prerequisites before it can be used but still that should help. Sunraku drawing aggro while Rei get her recast time rundown each time. Sunraku has been great learning lycagon moves throughout the battle. Helping to create openings for Rei to land her five attacks each of those two skills needed for her ultimate. Sunraku still having not sneak off to the inventory room to dodge some of lycagon attacks. That wolf is very crafty and smart, even being able to recognize their speech. Some very advanced AI in these unique monsters. More than just super up versions of regular monsters like one would think. Sunraku breaking out one of the robots from the inventory finally. Not one of the mecha suits itself but still a cool robot pterodactyl looking thing. Using it to disperse the clouds covering the moon giving lycagon that full field shadow advantage was such a smart idea. Now they don't have to worry about sneak attacks from shadow clones. Sunraku and Rei have done a great job keeping lycagon from straight up destroying them. They've been holding their own very well building up to using Rei ultimate attack. It looks like cavalry is on the way to them now!

I mean, if the problem of fighting Lycaon is just get rid of the shadow clone and be aware of how she moves the main body in shadows, I don't see why she's one of the 7 strongest. For now I think the big problem here is be cursed liked Sunraku was.

Wethermon had a lot of conditions to win, and this fight looks so simply for now. Still great episode, the animation is better than ever.

What an amazing fight! Sunraku is on another level. While Psyger-0 can deal more damage overall, Sunraku’s vast experience allows him to counter Lycaon’s abilities just by observing them. Even though Sunraku’s new robot bird and Psyger-0 are heavily enhanced, they still can’t make Lycaon retreat. In fact, Lycaon even smiles when hit by powerful attacks. That wolf is incredibly tough.

I doubt they’ll last much longer in this battle, but Akane Akitsu seems to recognize Sunraku. Could it be the boy she met in that bug-filled fighting game?

The fight is on and boy oh boy does Lycaon have some nasty abilities. Not only is the copy a problem but it lured them into a false sense of security thinking they knew how much it could do in terms of movement. It also barely takes damage a while they have an ace up Rei's sleeve the requirement is very steep. Good thing Sunraku was able to figure out in Inventoria that while he can't wear the armor suits the helmet is enough to control the robots in his favour. Let's see just how this sakuga filled fight plays out as Rei takes a hevy hit and the newcomer joins the picture.

If it weren’t for Psyger-0, Sunraku would not have bee able to fight Lycagon at this level. Psyger-0 is a huge impact for him.

I’m pretty sure Sunraku can defeat Lycagon this time, he’s much more stronger than before and thanks to his abilities, it’s doable.

I liked the part when Sunraku took that device and summoned some monster of Wethermon.

Banger fucking episode. Sunraku was DEEP in his bag during this fight. Low potions and no prep but still keeping up thanks to best girl Rei’s contributions. Not only is she getting her wish to play with him, but saving his ass too lol

This is going even better than I hoped. Rei is genuinely a massive help here. Her Satan form was dope, also loved Sunraku’s robot dragon team up. Guess that mech game’s episodes came in handy lol.

Animation during Airgletam was sick! Had several sequences that were so badass. Thought they might have had the W there once Rei let out her ult, but even that ain’t enough. Can’t wait for next week’s ep. Happy new year everyone

My god are they cooking after what felt like a somewhat underwhelming first cour.

I love how out of nowhere this fight came, and I could honestly see it go either way at this point. They could honestly win from how it looks atm, and that would definitely be hype, but I could also see them losing, with Psy-0 gaining the curse and not being able to equip body gear.

Only issue is that taking on the Lycagon for a third showdown sounds kind of tedious and dragged out from a viewer's perspective, so I don't really see it going down that path rn, especially with backup apparently on the way.

My money's on them taking home the W

This episode was such a great watch, especially seeing how Rei-Shi and Sunraku’s teamwork. It’s clear they’ve taken everything they’ve learned from their previous encounters and really applied it here. The dynamic between them feels natural and rewarding to watch, particularly in the way they strategize and adapt mid-battle. I loved the detail about Sunraku pointing out that the head/face is more vulnerable than Lycagon’s sturdy body—seeing Rei-Shi capitalize on that toward the end of the fight was a satisfying payoff. My one gripe with the episode is that we don’t really see how much damage they’re taking when they block or get hit by Lycagon. It would’ve been nice to have a clearer sense of the stakes during the fight. However, the inventory spamming, which could have been annoying, ended up being a clever plot point. The way Sunraku figures out he can use the helmet was a brilliant touch, and it kept me engaged throughout the battle. I really appreciate the way the show skips tutorials and lets us experience new abilities and mechanics in real time. It keeps the surprises intact and makes the progression feel more organic. The added tension of them being low on supplies—because they weren’t expecting to face anything like Lycagon—adds another layer of realism to the story. It’s those little details that make these fights feel meaningful and not just random encounters. What’s crazy is that after this intense battle, they still have the area boss to deal with! The buildup is fantastic, and I’m excited (and a little nervous) to see how they’ll manage that, especially with their resources already stretched so thin. The post-credit scene was a fantastic way to end the episode. Rei-Shi is definitely going to freak out when this other female player shows up looking for Sunraku. I’m really curious about her backstory and which game she knows him from. It’s an intriguing setup for the next episode and has me even more invested in the story. Overall, this episode was a great mix of action, strategy, and character interaction. I can’t wait to see how much damage Rei-Shi took from that last attack and how they’re going to handle what comes next. The show keeps finding ways to keep the stakes high and the story engaging, and I’m here for it!

Holy crap. This show, being a bit absurd in some ways, has some of the BEST action scenes. Holy hell, this stuff is just straight up HYPE.

Kinda halfway passed on it during the first season because it was just straight up so absurd, considering how outright stupid Sunraku's appearance is. I'm so happy I got pulled back into it, because when this show goes hard, IT GOES HARD.

Wow, this battle is truly epic! Although it's just one episode, the action feels endless. It's great to see Sanraku and Rei holding their own against such a powerful monster. Sanraku bringing out that flying mecha from the inventoria was a brilliant move! Rei is speechless; she can't believe her eyes as Sanraku bounces around, landing critical hits left and right. They work very well together, but I wish Rei would just gather the courage to tell him the truth. All this hesitation is getting tiresome. I hope she finds the strength to come clean and share her feelings with Sanraku—honestly, it would make for a much better story than all this uncertainty.

Despite that, this anime is fantastic so far! And guess what? Akane is on her way to support the dynamic duo. This is going to be exciting! I hope Akane's arrival gives Rei the final push she needs to express how she feels about Sanraku. It's about time! Let's make it happen, Rei! 👍🏻👍🏻
